It's show time!!

John Bramston were very lucky this afternoon to have some special visitors in to talk about recycling. The children really enjoyed themselves and here are some pictures of the show:

This week KS1 performed their Nativity "Children of the World" to parents and families.


It was a great way to tell the story of the birth of Jesus and the way it was celebrated in different countries around the world!!

On Tuesday we performed to the people of Kielder Close Day Centre and Bramston Close.

On Monday 16th December John Bramston children performed to families and friends.

















The choir sang, Mr. Cusack played ukulele with various children.
















There were solos from Y3, Y4, Y5, and Y6 Classes.
















Other children played their instruments, we had cellos, brass, woodwind, recorders, violins, piano and ukuleles.
















We wish you all a Happy Christmas.

Within Redbridge borough, they are offering a scheme called active stars. This is to help young people get involved in sport and stay healthy. Below is some of the activities they do but also the person you need to contact if you are interested.

Last week John Bramston choir travelled to the O2 fro a Young Voices Concert.

They were joined by over seven thousand other children from the London regions.


The massed choirs performed a selection of songs and medleys with professional musicians,

including a special guest appearance of Stacey Solomon!!

Urban Strides, a Street Dance Group, provided the moves!!

It was a fantastic event for all!!

Y1 classes performed their class assembly The Rainbow people.

We began by singing our song which we will perform at the Barbican next week with the London

Symphony Orchestra!

Then we performed our play the Rainbow people, which was about learning to live together

in a friendly and harmonious way.

The cycling club came together in the wind and rain to practise their biking skills!!! 

Look how many children cycled to school today 


All these children enjoyed a wonderful bikers breakfast. 



Well done to all children and parents who braved the rain and cycled or scooted to school.

Y1 classes at the Barbican

On Tuesday Y1 classes travelled by Underground train to the Barbican to perform Giddy Goat with the London Symphony orchestra!!

We listened to the orchestra and learnt about the different  instruments and the musical sounds they  made.


We also sang our Giddy Goat song with the orchestra. It was a fantastic experience to visit this important London venue and learn about classical music!!

An Olympic Athlete arrives at JB......

What a fantastic day we have had at JB today! 
We had a very special guest who participated in London 2012 Olympics visit JB today. 

Our famous athlete was Karina Bryant. She participated for Team GB in Judo at the Olympics. 

The children completed 4 different activities to get them active and moving. 
These were:
*Press Ups
*Leg Extensions
*Spotty Dogs
*Star Jumps

Compost Visit

Our Eco Rangers had a visit from a Redbridge Recycling Officer - Ms Luse on Tuesday. She shared the benefits of  ' Composting ' and helped the children understand facts about waste and what we can do to minimize any impact on our Environment.  As part of this, we received a free Compost Bin for school that we shall start to use to help generate fertilizer for our Allotment.



We explored various compost systems (wormery, partially and ready made compost)




We also did the quiz and watched the video.

 

Book Week at John Bramston

This week at John Branston we are celebrating Book Week. The children have taken part in lots of activities which started with a show by The Friendly Fox Theatre Company on Monday. The show was all about a child who gets sucked in to the TV. She has to find her way out and meets lots of book characters along the way. 



The children have also been enjoying sharing their favourite books with friends and other children in different year groups.




Tomorrow is World Book Day so watch this space for photos of different book characters!

What a fantastic day all the children had. There were some very empowering speaking and fantastic performers to celebrate the wonderful volunteering and fundraising that children across the country have done. Including JB!!! :-) 

Thank you to all the parents for waking up extra early to meet us at the station and to all the children for being beautifully behaved.
